General Career Information: Business & Commerce Jobs
One of the fastest growing areas is Business Management. The days of learning on the job are long gone although hands on experience is in itself very valuable.
The global marketplace has truly arrived with business and commerce being carried out 24/7. Competition is getting tougher and fiercer as each company is
trying to increase its profits, reduce overheads, grow the market, and at the same time fight a rearguard action to protect market share.
Nearly every single business sector or government department requires business managers, the main growth areas being Technology, Management Analysis, and Public Relations.
Some of the more traditional areas are declining a little e.g. Agriculture and purchasing, although this in itself is an opportunity for someone with the
right skills and business acumen. Business management is one of the few careers where there is need if a company is doing well and likewise a need if it is not doing so well.
A Business Management qualification is also highly portable, the fundamentals remain the same whatever the sector. Prospective students will need to be numerate,
literate, organized, able to keep a cool head under pressure, able to make decisions, able to communicate on all levels and good time managers.

Business Development Manager or Deputy Manager or Duty Manager within a larger corporation. Types of company requiring these workers vary immensely
from giant multinationals to local businesses and include educational establishments, charities and Government.
For those interested in becoming self-employed it will no doubt please them to know that the number of Personal Financial Advisors is expected to grow a staggering 34% by 2010.
